Kedron Cub Scouts visited the water activities centre at Brownsea at Shorncliffe for our Pack Holiday.
We spent the weekend testing our theoretical knowledge about canoes and canoe safety before heading out into the bay for a paddle to test our new skills.
On Saturday we paddled to the salt flats for morning tea and then onto the Boondall Wetlands for an afternoon ramble around before the paddle journey back to base camp. That evening we dressed up as superhero’s, watched a movie and reviewed our experiences from the day.
On Sunday morning we paddled across the bay to do some team building activities and games on the water including tug of war, speed races and fruit salad in the canoes.
The Cubs really enjoyed using their skills and being out on the water.
Kedron Cub Scouts from the Monday and Wednesday packs had a wonderful time and everyone was able to complete either the Level 1 or work towards Level 2 Canoeing Achievement Badge.
Thank you again to all of the wonderful parent helpers and leaders who supported this activity, without you it would not be possible to experience such adventurous opportunities.
