Kedron Scouts commenced in 1963, initially at Kedron State School.  A year later the den was built on its current site by parents, who then became Scout leaders.  In 1991 the second den was added to meet the increase in Scout numbers due to girls being able to join all sections and Joey Scouts commencing at the group in 1990.  This is the longest continuously running Joey Scouts Mob in Queensland.

Since then, over 500 boys and girls have been members of Kedron Scouts.   Some of our Scouts have stayed with us for 9 years then gone on to become Leaders and we have welcomed the children of many former Scouts and hope to continue this tradition.  Our original scout leaders remain important members of our group.

Our Scouting sections are supported by qualified adult leaders and Scouting parents.

What have we been doing at Kedron Scouts?

Kedron Scouts Anzac Day March

In the past year, our Kedron Scout family has:

  • held a Group Family Camp and attended the Currumbin Dawn Service
  • taken part in Clean up Australia
  • helped Bunnings with their Father’s Day, Christmas and Easter free family activity evenings
  • hosted the Supporters of the Geebung/Wavell RSL stomp who visited the den for a break on their way to the Geebung RSL carrying bricks with names of fallen diggers from WW1.
  • attended the opening of the Brooks Child Care centre, looking after the Sausage Sizzle
  • hosted the District Cub Scout Leadership course which trains up our youth in leadership skills
  • hosted a Fun Day for our members and community, including a 6m high portable climbing wall. What fun!!

Each section held at least 3 camps and 2 sleepovers which included canoeing, abseiling, historical dress-ups and loads of swimming, hiking, camp cooking, and of course, campfires under the stars!  A family camp was also held for the enjoyment of everyone.

Your child’s safety and wellbeing is our number one priority…

Scouts requires all adults applying to join the Association to satisfy Working with Children Check arrangements; consent to a Police and Character Check as well as undertake a suitability interview by the Group Leader. For many years, all potential Scout Leaders and Adult Helpers have had to undertake a mandatory Police check.

All approved adult Leaders receive comprehensive and ongoing training in dealing with children and the various aspects of Scouting. All Leaders and Adult Helpers must sign a document under which they agree to abide by a Code of Conduct, which incorporates important principles of child protection.

Contact Us if you are interested in being an Adult Leader or Helper.
