Being a Joey, Cub, Scout, Venturer or Rover is not expensive.  The main costs are for the annual enrolment fee, subscription fees each term and uniform.

To give you an idea of costs in 2018:

Annual enrolment registration cover each child’s insurance, the running of Scouts Qld assets and activities is $193 for new members and $135 for existing members.  The Administration fee is excluded in the following year.

Subscription fees each term, to cover weekly activities and running of the groups is $75 per term.

Sleepovers at the den, including dinner, are around $10 per night.

Participating in a 2 day camp, including accommodation, food and activities is $30-50 per camp.

Purchasing a scout uniform (shirt, scarf & woggle) is less than $50.

Purchasing a Cub Scout Record Book (yellow / green / maroon book) is $10.

If you are eligible for the Queensland Government's Getting Started voucher, this can be used towards the cost of the annual enrolment fee and subscription fees.  Vouchers are open to eligible families of children aged 5 to 17 years who are residents of Queensland and hold or whose parent, carer or guardian hold a Centrelink Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card with the child’s name in it or other children or young people identified by a registered referral agent.  Further information can be found on the Queensland Government website - Getting Started.
